GridKit Privacy Policy
Last updated: 27 September 2026
GridKit is a personal planner for notes, tasks, events and reminders. This policy explains how information is handled when you use GridKit, its widget and our support contact.
GridKit is provided by Angelina Shamanova, based in Serbia (“we”, “us”). For privacy questions and requests, contact angelinashamanova@gmail.com. Where applicable data protection law treats us as a controller, these are our controller contact details.
1. Overview
GridKit stores your planner content on your device. If you enable iCloud sync, it also stores that content in your private iCloud database. Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. You do not create a separate GridKit account.
We do not sell personal information, show third-party advertising or track you across other companies’ apps and websites. GridKit does not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs or send your planner content to a developer-operated server.
2. Information used by GridKit
Your planner content
The app stores the text you enter, the dates associated with your notes, task completion status, event times, recurrence information and formatting choices. It also keeps technical information needed to save edits, resolve synchronization conflicts and recover data migrated from older versions.
This information is used to display and edit your planner, synchronize changes when enabled, and provide reminders and the widget. The content may contain personal information if you choose to enter it.
App settings and local storage
GridKit saves preferences such as appearance, accent color, planner layout, selected date, reminder timing and sync settings. The app uses the device’s calendar, language and time zone settings to display dates and schedule reminders. This does not require access to your location.
The app and its widget share local storage so the widget can display your notes. This storage is part of the app’s data on your device; it is not a public database.
Optional iCloud synchronization
Sync is off by default on a new installation unless a previous setting is restored. When you enable it, GridKit uses Apple CloudKit to synchronize planner content and the information needed to apply changes across your devices using the same iCloud account.
The app uses an account-specific identifier supplied by CloudKit, converted to a hashed identifier, to keep different iCloud accounts’ local notebooks separate. This identifier is not your name or email address and is not used for advertising.
Your notes are stored in the private database associated with your iCloud account. We do not have a developer dashboard that lets us read those private notes. The app can access them on your behalf through your signed-in iCloud account. Apple operates the iCloud service under its own terms and privacy policy.
Disabling sync stops future synchronization while it is disabled. It does not automatically erase data already stored in iCloud or on your other devices.
Reminders and the widget
With your notification permission, GridKit schedules reminders locally on your device. Reminder text can contain the title or text of an event. GridKit does not send these reminder messages through a developer-operated notification server.
Notification previews and the widget can make planner content visible to anyone who can see your screen, depending on your device settings. The widget may continue displaying saved notes after a subscription expires. You can change notification permissions and previews in system settings and remove the widget at any time.
Subscriptions and purchase information
Apple handles purchase authorization, billing, payment details and refunds. GridKit receives product and transaction information through StoreKit, such as the purchased product, transaction identifiers, subscription and trial eligibility, and purchase, expiration or revocation status. It uses this information to verify access, restore purchases and respond to subscription changes.
GridKit does not receive your full payment card details or Apple Account password. The app does not forward StoreKit transactions to a developer-operated server. Apple may separately make sales reports and diagnostic information available to us under its developer services and your relevant sharing settings.
Support messages
If you contact us, we receive your email address and any information you choose to include, such as screenshots, an issue description or correspondence. We use it to respond, investigate the issue and manage your request. Google Gmail processes that correspondence to deliver and store it. Please send only information needed for the request, and do not send passwords or payment card details.
3. Purposes and legal grounds
We use information to provide the features you request, manage subscription access, answer support requests and maintain the reliability and security of GridKit.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, the relevant bases are performance of our agreement with you for requested features and subscription access; our legitimate interests in responding to support requests and maintaining a secure, reliable app; compliance with legal obligations where they apply; and consent where the law requires it. Optional iCloud sync and notifications are activated through your choices. You can disable them at any time. Where processing is based on consent, withdrawing it does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
We do not use your planner content to create advertising profiles or train AI models.
4. Other services and disclosures
Apple provides iCloud, StoreKit, the App Store and device services. Those services may process information under Apple’s Privacy Policy and the terms for your Apple account and region.
If you email us, information in that message is processed by Google Gmail under the applicable service terms and Google’s Privacy Policy. We may disclose information in our possession where legally required or necessary to address fraud, security incidents or legal claims, subject to applicable law. This does not give us access to your private iCloud notes.
When you open an external link, including a policy page, the hosting provider may receive connection information such as your IP address and browser details. Its privacy practices apply to its own processing. These pages are separate from the app’s local planner storage.
Service providers such as Apple, Google and page-hosting providers may process information outside your country. The applicable locations and protections depend on those services. Where we are responsible for a restricted international transfer, we must use the safeguards required by applicable law; you can contact us for information about transfers relevant to your request.
5. Retention and deletion
Planner content remains in local app storage until you change or remove it or remove the relevant app data. There is no automatic deletion merely because your trial or subscription ends. If sync is enabled, copies also remain in iCloud until removed through the available app or Apple controls. Device backups may contain additional copies under your backup settings.
The current Clear App Data command clears the active notebook’s visible content and removes scheduled and delivered app reminders. If iCloud sync is enabled and completes successfully, it also synchronizes the clearing of that notebook. If sync is off, cloud content is not cleared by that action. Clearing is not a secure erase of every stored copy: local synchronization or migration recovery data and local notebooks associated with previously used iCloud accounts may remain. Cloud records used to record that a note was cleared can also remain without its visible text.
For broader removal, use the system’s Delete App option, rather than Offload App, on devices containing GridKit data, and remove GridKit’s data through Apple’s iCloud storage controls if you used sync. Manage any device backups separately. Before reconnecting another device with old local content, remove unwanted copies there as well so they are not uploaded again. Apple controls the deletion and retention of information in its services.
App settings are currently behind subscription access. If you cannot reach the in-app clearing command, you can still use system storage controls and contact us without purchasing a subscription. We can explain those controls but cannot directly retrieve or erase notes in your private iCloud database from a developer account.
Support correspondence is kept for as long as reasonably needed to resolve and follow up on your request, address disputes or meet applicable legal obligations. Information no longer needed for those purposes is deleted or de-identified. Apple determines retention of its own transaction, account and billing records.
6. Your choices and rights
You can edit your content, turn iCloud sync on or off, manage notification permissions, remove the widget and manage your subscription in your Apple account. Deleting app data does not cancel an App Store subscription, and cancelling a subscription does not delete your notes.
Depending on your country and the information involved, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information, obtain a portable copy, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, and complain to a competent data protection authority. Contact angelinashamanova@gmail.com to exercise rights concerning information we handle. We may need proportionate information to verify your request. For information controlled by Apple, you can also use Apple’s privacy and account tools.
In Serbia, the supervisory authority is the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection: poverenik.rs. Where another country’s law applies, you may also contact the relevant competent authority.
We will explain if we do not hold the information you request or if your request concerns private device or iCloud data that only you can access through the relevant controls.
7. Changes and contact
We may update this policy when GridKit’s features or data practices change. We will update the revision date and provide additional notice where required by applicable law. Material new data uses will not be introduced through a policy change alone where consent or other steps are required.
